Kind of a cheat - Right when the game is about to end, sell everything. If the item is sold after the game ends, you get the money at the start of the next game.
Level 17 answer: This one is tough. There are hidden planks everywhere. First, starting from where your ball starts on the level, jump as far as you can to the left. The 2nd platform is the same distance, again to the left. The 3rd platform is right above the 1st (It is a right hand jump from 2nd to 3rd). You can then reach the star. If you go on the right side, the flags switch positions. Go to the right side then jump to the right to find the 4th platform. Jump again to the right for the 5th platform.
